Introducing NSW MDRS

The MDRS is based on Mobitex technology. Mobitex is a leading dedicated packet data technology that was originally developed and owned by Ericsson. Since its launch, Mobitex has proven its value to public safety agencies through superior levels of security and efficiency. As such, its list of users includes police, ambulance, fire, customs and immigration, civil defence, security, government and military organisations.

Its intuitive interface forms the gateway to a wide range of data capabilities vital to connected agencies, including true interoperability to users across the whole network and access to public data networks (CDMA, GPRS and Satellite).

The MDRS encompasses the Mobitex technology plus a front-end Message Management Facility which enables communication within the network. It is both a scalable technological investment and long-term operational solution wholly owned by the NSW Government.

Ongoing coverage, service levels, management and maintenance are backed by an official Management Agreement with Technisyst Pty Ltd, who designed and constructed the network in 2003.

For connected agencies, the MDRS network is already delivering on its promise of increased efficiency, unprecedented operational flexibility and complete reliability.
