Security and Reliability

last modified 21 May 2009 12:04 AM
Security and reliability are fundamental to the integrity of any network that addresses public safety needs. Accordingly, these two considerations were key objectives in developing the MDRS, and influential in the selection of Mobitex as the technological platform.

The integrity of the MDRS network is protected by security strategies inherent in its infrastructure, technology and management. These security strategies include:

Network infrastructure designed to deter intrusion and external interference;
  • Secure, fully self-contained site locations
  • Backup systems that maintain performance if external environments fail
  • Thorough site surveillance monitoring
  • Radio interference protection built into the design

Technology with in-built data security measures
  • Individual user and user group authentication
  • Closed user group facility for contained interchange of data
  • Data optimization and password protection capability for each user through the Gateway

Contractually backed troubleshooting and management
  • 24/7 supervision and response from the network manager
  • Immediate expert intervention in problem diagnosis and resolution
  • Service levels bound by formalised contractual agreements
