Radio Adds, Moves & Changes

last modified 03 Apr 2009 01:36 PM

The NSW GRN HelpDesk offers a range of standard and new Service Requests to network users. All service alteration requests must be made using the GRN Radio Alteration Request Form and all new connections are to be made using the GRN New Service Connection Request.  Any requests not on the correct form, or incomplete, may be returned to the originator for more information.  Any questions encountered whilst completing these forms should be directed to the GRN Helpdesk (see Contacts).

Below is a list of the possible/available Service Requests :

Inhibit Radio

Inhibiting a radio disables that radio from the GRN (i.e. cancels the transmit and receive functions of the radio unit). The inhibit function is typically used when a radio has been stolen or misplaced and the Agency does not wish this radio to remain functional.

Cancel Radio Inhibit

Restores a radio that had previously been disabled (i.e. inhibited) to full operation.

Radio Disconnection

Disconnection removes a radio from the network. Disconnection can be either permanent or temporary.

  • Permanent Disconnection

Permanent Disconnection deletes all details of a radio from the network. Disconnected radios will not function on the network. Permanent Disconnection should only be requested if the radio is no longer to be used (ie lost, stolen or beyond repair). If a later reconnection is required, the radio will be allocated a new identification number and will require re-programming.

  • Temporary Disconnection

Temporary Disconnection changes the radio status from "enabled" to "disabled". The radio details remain on the network but the radio will not transmit or receive.  Temporary Disconnection would normally be used for spare and/or emergency units.

Note: Temporarily disconnected radios can still send an emergency call on the GRN, providing they are in a serviced area.

    Reconnection

Reconnection restores a radio from "disabled" to its previously "enabled" status.

    Change of Identification (ID) Number

Change of ID Number is used to transfer existing radio details to another radio, either new or existing, ie, if a radio user damages a radio, another radio can be programmed with the same ID number. If an existing radio is reprogrammed with a new ID, the old details will be deleted.

    Telephone Interconnect

Telephone interconnect allows a radio to make call to a telephone or mobile phone. This facility can be activated or deactivated for individual radios as required.

    New Connections

A new connection request is required when a radio needs a new ID number allocated. It can be either a brand new radio or a radio that has previously been disconnected and now requires a new ID number to be allocated. The New Service Connection Request is to be used for all new connection requests.

    Talkgroups & Multigroups

Talkgroups and multigroups are requested based on operational requirements during transition to the NSW GRN. Any changes required after transition should be discussed with the NSW GRN Operations Manager.
