Rental Radios
This page discusses the process required to rent radios from GCIO
The Department of Commerce has a reserve of over 120 GRN handheld radios with quantities of single and multi-unit unit battery chargers, carry cases and spare batteries.
The units are available to all Government Agencies (whether currently on the GRN or not) for use during such things as special events, exercises, emergencies and training.
For example, the Maritime Authority could use the radios to supplement their communications during events such as the New Year's Eve celebrations.
The costs of the radios are $5 per day (or part thereof) per radio. There may be additional costs charged by Motorola for programming and for other services such as training (please consult Motorola directly in relation to these services).
In order to book these radios, three things are required
- GCIO approval is required (telephone or email Paul Barnes or Tony Shaw - see Contacts). You should provide:
- Your name
- Your organisation
- The number or radios required
- The reason for the wanting the radios
- The date/time you would like to pick them up
- The date/time you expect to return them
- Billing contact person
- Billing address
(GCIO will then contact Motorola to inform them that approval has been granted.)
- Programming of radios by Motorola to your requirements (Telephone or email Edmond David - see Contacts)
- Connection of radios to the Network is usually organised by Motorola, as part of the programming.
